Economic Development

The Economic Development Department improves the economic well being of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe entrepreneurs and business.  The goal of the department is to steer the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe toward self-sufficiency through the development of new initiatives and ensure the efficient operation of existing programs and businesses. The department will accomplish this goal by implementing programs and strategies in the areas of economic development, small business development, tourism, culture, arts and community development.

The department's goals are to create profit making businesses that create jobs, stimulate economic growth, develop viable opportunities that bring tribal members into the economic mainstream and develop local area as major destination point for quality goods and services.

Economic Development provides resources for the Leech Lake Population and assists tribal government in developing plans to expand economic development infrastructure.
