EMS Ambulance Service

The Ambulance provides pre-hospital care and transportation.

Other services include medical coverage for community events such as, Pow-wows, sporting events, elder events, fishing, boxing and many other activities as well as EMS education to schools and community members.

We strive to provide a level of care that is continually evolving and growing to a more advanced level. We achieve this through continuous training and education for our employees and through an on-going program of community education involving interaction with the EMS System.

National and State Certified Staff

All staff employed with the Ambulance Service must maintain a state or national certification as Emergency Medical Technicians. Re-certification is required by the State EMSRB every two years.

National and State Certified Training Center

Leech Lake EMS is a state certified EMS Training Center, teaching Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician and American Heart CPR / 1st Aid Classes.

Basic Life Support

The Ambulance Service is a basic life support unit with advanced life support variances and protocols. We provide some medications through a variance with the State EMSRB. Our staff are also trained in the use of advanced airway, Defibrillation, and Intravenous Infusion. We average 1,200 call a year.

Community Events

The Ambulance service provides medical coverage to many of the community events held around the Leech Lake Reservation such as pow wow's, health fairs, elder events, fishing tournaments, and headstart functions, just to name a few.

The staff conduct public relation activities with headstart, girl scouts, ambulance tours, and world of wheels.

Stop by and visit with staff when you see them in the community, they will be happy to provide an ambulance tour.

Eligibility Requirements

Open to all community members. Need not be enrolled to receive Ambulance services.

Pull out fee and mileage.

Method of Payment

Insurance. If the patient does not have insurance they will be billed for services thru CHS, MC or MA. The Ambulance uses an outside billing service.
