Solid Waste

solid Waste LogoLeech Lake Solid Waste provides the use of transfer stations throughout the reservation.

Leech Lake Solid Waste provides Residential Curbside garbage pick-up and is available to both Leech Lake Band Members and all other non-band members, living within 15 miles of the reservation boundary. There is a fee for curbside pick up. The fee is waived for Elders and handicapped band members.

Non-band members who are Cass County residents are allowed to drop off at the main transfer station in Cass Lake, with the purchase of a County Punchcard (available at Teals).

We also provide Roll off bin service for Demo and Mixed Solid Waste, Recycling drop off & Dumpster bin rental and tip up.

 From Hwy 200, East of Northern Lights Casino, take Onigum Road North until you pass the Onigum Community Center then take a Right at Cedar Point Road, follow to station.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe provides a FUNDED service for the Leech Lake Enrollees. Effective Immediately, ALL People that utilize the Leech Lake Solid Waste or Transfer(s) & Recycling Center(s) will show an Identification Card (“ID”).

The intended purpose of the ID will determine the amount to charge, items accepted, and those rates are list below for 1 and 2:

  1. All non-Leech Lake Enrollees or the General Public will purchase a Punch Card before disposing:
    • Punch Card will be purchased from the main office in Cass Lake for $20.00 dollars.
    • Punch Card may be purchased from the four (4) satellite Transfer Stations.
    • Punch Card will have 12 punches, each punch will be for three (3) Bags of Garbage and the Yard Attendant will punch the card.
  2. All non-Leech Lake Enrollees or the General Public will pay for the disposal of Demo or other accepted items only:
    • Demo Charge rate will be $15.00 per yard, i.e., standard truck load is four (4) yards.
    • The Office Administration will complete a bill of sale in accordance to Addendum #1.
    • Solid Waste will not accept TV’s or Electronics.
    • Solid Waste will not accept Couches or Beds.
  3. The Recycling Center is FREE for the General Public and accepted items:
    • Cardboard
    • Aluminum
    • Plastic
    • Iron & WHite Goods disposal are free for the General Public
  4. All Leech Divisions, Programs, and Businesses will utilize the sign-in sheets, Sign-in sheets are located by the Recorder’s Office.
  5. Curbside pick-up will be $20.00 per month and done weekly, see the Solid Waste Admin.
  6. Solid Waste has a limited number of Tip-up Bins: Monthly Tip-up Bin rental is $40.00 per month.
  7. Solid Waste Roll-off Rental prices for Demo Bin includes delivery and disposal:
    • 40-yard Demo Bin is $750.00
    • 35-yard Demo Bin is $600.00
    • 30-yard Demo Bin is $600.00
    • 25-yard Demo Bin is $500.00
  8. Solid Waste Roll-off Rental prices for Mixed Bin includes delivery and disposal:
    • 40-yard Mixed Bin is $700.00
    • 35-yard Mixed Bin is $600.00
    • 30-yard Mixed Bin is $500.00
    • 25-yard Mixed Bin is $500.00

GARBAGE DAILY ROUTES

*Must be curbside only or end of the driveway and we only pick up household bagged garbage because of time constraints, we are unable to clean yards.

Holiday or RTC Administrative Leave Schedule

If the Leech Lake DPW/Solid Waste Department has a Holiday or Administrative Leave on your Garbage Day, it will be normally picked up on Friday’s as a make-up day. However, if we have two (2) days of like Monday and Tuesday, we will continue on our normal schedule for Wednesday but we will send an extra garbage truck on that day to do Monday’s route. On Thursday’s route will be on schedule but we will send the extra garbage truck to make up Tuesday’s route. It all depends on what day we get off and the number of days we get off for that week but we have always made sure that we find a way to pick up every customer during the week because they have paid in advance.
