Summary: Work in cooperation with the Leech Lake DRM Forestry department, the Climate Coordinator, and DRM Wetlands staff in recommending, managing, and implementing relevant wetland mapping, inventories, monitoring, research projects, data analysis, and programmatic decisions related to Tribal forested wetland and peatland resource protection, restoration, and inclusion into carbon credit system(s). Will research and recommend the most beneficial options for the Tribal forested wetland and peatland resources within the restored lands as part of a three-year feasibility study for carbon market inclusion. Responsible for quality work from all other personnel assisting on projects; knowledge of the expectations of the Forestry Director and Forester is a must.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Silviculture, Biology, Natural Resource Science, Hydrology, Environmental Science or similar degree required. Master’s or Doctorate degree in Forestry, Silviculture, Biology, Natural Resource Science, Hydrology, Environmental Science or similar degree with a focus in wetland related studies preferred. Summary: Oversees the management, organization, and maintenance of geospatial and drone imagery data to support environmental planning, resource management, and decision-making within the Division of Resource Management (DRM). This role will ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility while also managing the drone equipment fleet, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing technical support to DRM program managers for data collection and analysis.
