The following are services and/or programs that provide services to Elders or that list Elders as a top priority for services.
Red Cedar Assisted Living
The Red Cedar Assisted Living (RCAL) is a beautiful drug, alcohol, smoking (including e-cigarettes) and marijuana free facility, residents who smoke cigarettes/e-cigarettes can do so outside of the facility, conveniently located near IHS. The staff of the Red Cedar Assisted Living look forward to serving you or your loved ones with the seven teachings: Love, Respect, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility and Truth.
Provided:
- fully furnished studio apartment, including cable tv
- 3 meals a day
- once weekly light housekeeping and laundry
- 24-hour awake staff to assist residents
- access to the laundry room to do their own laundry, if preferred, as well as the front activity room and back living room
- Please note that residents may have guests, however they are not able to stay overnight for the safety of all residents
Additional services such as:
- Medication assistance
- Medical treatment assistance
- Assistance making medical appointments
- Assistance with transportation to medical appointments
- ADL assistance such as dressing, grooming, showering
Eligibility for residency:
- Ability to transfer with minimal assistance
- Ability to evacuate in an emergency with minimal assistance
- A member of the LLBO or other federally recognized tribe Age 65 or older
- The RCAL Nurse will provide a free assessment to screen for eligibility
- The RCAL is unable to accept individuals who have communicable diseases, need for a hoyer lift or other transfer devices, those who have Alzheimer’s or dementia, or other nursing-home level care needs.
Services and rent must be paid by the client through:
- State medical assistance “MA”
- Waiver programs
- Private pay
Elder Advocate
All our Elder Advocates are Mandated Reporters of physical, emotional, financial and sexual abuse and neglect.
Elder Advocates
Elder Advocates assist with transportation, food shelf visits, banking, grocery shopping, delivery of Commodities/Naps boxes, medical appointments and medication pick-up. We also help with county paperwork, social security, and health insurance information. Advocates will transport and accompany Elders/Disabled individuals to county appointments.
Emergency Assistance
Emergency assistance in extraordinary need. Please call if you have questions.
Eye Glasses, Denture & Hearing Aid Program
Leech Lake Elders 55 years of age and older qualify for the eyeglasses, denture and hearing aids program. Participants must utilize IHS.
Home Visits
Help with light house cleaning and provide a good listening ear.
Medical Equipment
Elders and disabled band members may qualify for some medical equipment. A doctors prescription may be required.
Wisdom Steps
We also provide information and assistance to the Wisdom Steps Program.

Home Health & CHR Programs
We provide quality outreach health care services and health promotion/disease prevention services to American Indians and Alaskan Natives within their communities through the use of well-trained community health representatives.
We provide home health aid services such as housecleaning, personal grooming, grocery shopping for elders, Food Distribution delivery, prescription delivery, monitoring vital signs, and respite care services. We provide medical transportation service to and from medical appointments. Out of town trips with IHS referrals.

Waiver Program

A Long Term Care Consultation (LTCC) is provided at no charge in the home of elders and people with disabilities. Anyone can request this assessment through the Leech Lake Band rather than going through their county social service office

Medical Transportation
The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe has partnered with the Minnesota Department of Human Services through a Health Care Access Plan to offer you transportation to medical providers and medical transportation reimbursement services through our CHR program.
